The Health Through Action

for Children and Families (HTA-CF) initiative was a yearlong, $1.6 million effort to support eight Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander collaboratives to build partnerships that would improve the health of vulnerable children and families in their communities.

the activities of eight grantee organizations, conducted a social network analysis, and documented key learnings and outcomes.

Our evaluation report

highlights effective strategies the different groups used to advance health equity and strengthen emerging leaders in Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum-funded organizations advancing the health and well-being of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

Mapping an Emerging National Health Equity Network Report

Supported by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation through a grant to the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), the Health Through Action for Children and Families (HTA-CF) initiative was a yearlong, $1.6 million effort to support eight Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander collaboratives to build partnerships that would improve the health of vulnerable children and families in their communities.

SPR served as the evaluation partner for this effort and its predecessor—Health Through Action—which concluded in 2012. Building on the earlier evaluation’s lessons and findings, SPR’s work on HTA-CF included an evaluation of the activities of eight organizations that received direct funding from the APIAHF through the HTA-CF grant. Our evaluation also included a network analysis of the larger cohort of APIAHF-funded organizations advancing Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander health and well-being.

The final HTA-CF evaluation report provides an overview of the initiative’s grantees, strategy, and approach. It documents outcomes and learnings from HTA-CF and implications for funding in this area going forward. An accompanying report documents findings from a social network analysis on how the rapidly growing racial groups organized to advance health equity and highlights opportunities for strengthening the emerging movement of leaders from around the country.
