Practitioners’ Voice California Fund: Executive Summary of Phase Two Learnings

Childcare providers are undervalued, underpaid, and excluded from policy conversations in California and across the country. To ensure care workers’ wages, benefits, and job quality are addressed in system improvement and policy improvement, the early learning and care field needs to build with communities and not for them.

The Practitioners’ Voice CA fund (PVCA) awarded nearly $2m to 11 California-based organizations through flexible grants, based on their direct work with practitioners that care for young children, as well as their demonstrated commitment to equity and understanding of historical and systemic barriers to opportunities. SPR documented early efforts and lessons learned from PVCA’s first year.

PVCA is supported by the Heising-Simons Foundation, Tipping Point Community, Blue Shield of California Foundation, California Community Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and the Stein Early Childhood Development Fund.
