Position Title:  Research Associate

Qualifications:

SPR is seeking to hire 1-2 researchers with demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods (including conducting interviews, focus groups, site visits, basic descriptive statistics, data processing, and/or survey design and analysis)SPR is seeking to hire 1-2 researchers with demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods (including conducting interviews, focus groups, site visits, basic descriptive statistics, data processing, and/or survey design and analysis).

All candidates should have a graduate-level degree in one of a variety of disciplines, including education, public policy, sociology, ethnic studies, economics, and other social sciences. Excellent writing, oral communications, and organizational skills are also essential. Preference will be given to those with experience working with racially or socioeconomically diverse populations, and Spanish fluency is a plus. Some travel is required.

Job Description:

Depending on skills, duties may include a combination of the following:

  • Conduct qualitative case study research based on telephone interviews, focus groups, and/or site visits to employment training, youth, or other human service programs nationwide.
  • Assist in the development, administration, and analysis of surveys, and the maintenance or analysis of other quantitative data.
  • Analyze qualitative data from interviews and focus groups and prepare evaluation reports for government or non-profit clients.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of public datasets.
  • Provide technical assistance to government or nonprofit clients on issues of delivering employment training or youth services effectively.

Position Title: Quantitative Research Associate (1 position)

Qualifications: Completion of a Ph.D. degree in the social sciences and strong research skills are required.  Those whose advanced training is in Economics are especially encouraged to apply, but those with a Ph.D. in other social science disciplines will also be considered.  Expertise in research methods and strong quantitative skills are required.  Experience with SAS or other statistical software packages, survey design and development, qualitative research, or other technical research skills, as well as experience conducting analyses of social programs and engaging in proposal writing are also desirable.  Excellent writing, oral communications, and organizational skills are essential.  Experience working with racially or socio-economically diverse populations is a plus.  We will consider applications at both the junior and senior levels.

  • Conduct qualitative case study research based on site visits to employment training, youth, or other human service programs nationwide
  • Analyze data from multiple data sources and prepare evaluation reports for government and non-profit clients.
  • Participate in, or lead, proposal writing and business development.
