Young people today face numerous challenges to healthy development. SPR has a wealth of experience conducting evaluations of programs that promote youth development among vulnerable and ethnically diverse populations. We have, (1) conducted multi-level evaluations of major national youth initiatives, (2) captured best practices and lessons learned from innovative youth programs around the country, and (3) developed comprehensive frameworks to measure youth development, program, and community outcomes. In a number of these evaluations, we also examined organizational capacity-building efforts, created self-assessment tools for practitioners, and provided direct technical assistance and group training on program improvement.
Our research and evaluation of youth development services and programs includes after-school and summer programs, as well as programs that focus on cultural awareness, positive identity development, and inter-group relations. SPR has also developed specialized expertise with programs that aim to increase the civic engagement and leadership skills of youth populations through youth-led social justice actions such as youth organizing, action research, service-learning, and youth media.
