Effective family support programs are important components of comprehensive workforce policy. SPR's original research on, and evaluation of, complex programs that support families has focused primarily on the connection between work and family that has become critical as the percentage of women in the workforce has grown. Our portfolio includes a variety of studies that address child care policy areas; we have studied child care workforce preparation and compensation, as well as access to child care for low-income families. We have assisted state child care administrative agencies by studying the management of eligibility for subsidized child care and models of risk analysis for licensing investigations.
We have also focused on welfare policy, emphasizing the connections between the workforce investment system and welfare agencies that are vital to helping family members prepare for employment and find better jobs in successful welfare-to-work programs.
